I feel like there used to be a time on the Internet when you couldn’t blink without coming across some twink’s bid for fifteen minutes of viral video celebrity and a lifetime of telling the same story at your local gay bar about the one time you got three million YouTube views from dancing in your mom’s shower to Britney Spears. It was the late 2000s, and everything seemed possible, which is why I don’t understand why this particular homage to Shakira’s “She Wolf” never even broke 100,000 views:
I mean, sure, by the time this had come out, there was already a “He Wolf” fan video starring a ginger twink that had the budget of a high school media production class project and the shot-for-shot ambition of Gus Van Sant’s Psycho remake, so I guess timing can be everything, but whatever “He Wolf/El Lobito Gay” lacks in a desirable release date it more than makes up for with everything else, including a tasteful employment of of Photo Booth filters and iMovie effects, minimalist decoration, a literal dance corner, a mixed-use crawl space, what appears to be two at home stripper poles, a single pant leg, and possibly getting stuck but not for too long OHTHANKGOODNESS:
And on top of that, this video has a storied production, too:
I DID THIS WHOLE THING IN TWO HOURS CUZ THERE WAS THIS CONTEST AND I HAD I LITTLE BIT OF TIME LEFT TO SENT IT IN AND I HOPE I WIN, CUZ IF I DO I GET TO MEET SHAKIRA WISH ME LUCK LOL
Given this particular combination of uncompromised creative vision and difficult production schedule, we can all agree this truly was/is The Revenant of amateur gay fan music videos, so why the hell does this video only have 85,000 views? You can’t even get the occasional complimentary drink ticket with those kinds of numbers!
