I get that not everything on this blog is goint to be camp, and Carly Rae Jepsen is definitely not camp, but whatever. This music video for “I Really Like You” is terminally delightful in every way, and that’s good enough for a Sunday post:
The song (even though real talk: it’s no “Call Me Maybe”)? Delightful. Carly Rae Jepsen?Delightful Tom Hanks? Delightful. Tom Hanks’ dancing? Delightful! That Tinder plug? Delightful, if only because the thought of Tom Hanks Tinder messaging somebody “DTF?” puts me into a giggle fit. Justin Bieber showing up at the end? Sure, delightful, but only because I mistook him for a perky, butch-lite lesbian.
Honestly, my only concern is that Carly Rae Jepsen is 30-years-old and writing a song whose lyrics even a Taylor Swift LiveJournal fanzine might consider too youthful, but this music video is so charming, so who cares? Reminders of adulthood’s cruel responsibilities and the slow, inevitable crawl towards death? You guessed it–delightful!
